Molecular Biology provides students with a firm and robust foundation in the principles of modern molecular and cellular biology. This course reviews the basis of regulation of eukaryotic gene expression and reviews experiments that can be used to evaluate sequences for their ability to regulate gene expression. The course also reviews how genes involved in human diseases can be cloned, how mutations causing these diseases can be identified and evaluates potential developments in the therapy for genetic diseases. These concepts form almost all the basis for the great advances now being made in biology and the medical sciences.
