This course forms the basic foundation and key information for public health professionals in developing health policies, strengthening and managing health systems. It covers important aspects to guiding decision making in the health sector, assessing the system performance and system management. Strategic management of health systems is also a key component of policy formulation and implementation, and is an important ingredient in promoting the health of the population. The course, therefore, aims at providing students with the understanding of the key conceptual, theoretical, and practical frameworks for health policy and evaluation, systems strengthening as well as key management principles necessary to run the health sector.
