Semantics deals with interpreting meanings in languages. Semantics equips students with skills of interpreting language so that when they go out in the field, they will be able to use them to teach language effectively. Pragmatics is the other field of study that is covered in this course. It provides interpretive skills of hidden meaning. The skills from pragmatics assist teachers to understand language in full because language does not have only denotative, but connotative meaning too. It is hoped that this component will assist the students to demonstrate pragmatic skills in interpreting utterances.
